Evolution Elite Hockey Academy Tryout Information

Evolution Elite Hockey Academy (EEHA) will be starting back up for the 2020-2021 hockey season at the Big Bear Ice Arena!

We will be offering 18U AA, 16U AA, Bantam AA/A, Peewee AA/A, Squirt AA/A, 8U, 7U, and LTPH programs.

2020-21 Season Dates: August 31, 2020 - March 7, 2021.

Season fee: $1950.0

The Academy will be headed by Peter Cardasis as Director of Hockey Operations. Nick Turcotte will be working alongside as a key component in player skills development at EEHA. Each team will have a top-tier coaching staff to give players the most out of their development at EEHA.

Tryouts will be held on August 22nd and 23rd. Tryout schedule is below:

8U:  8/22/20 @ 1:00pm & 8/23/20 @ 1:00pm

Squirt/10U:  8/22/20 @ 2:15pm & 8/23/20 @ 2:15pm

Peewee:  8/22/20 @ 3:30pm & 8/23/20 @ 3:30pm

Bantam:  8/22/20 @ 4:45pm & 8/23/20 @ 4:45pm

16U/18U:  8/22/20 @ 6:00pm & 8/23/20 @ 6:00pm

Tryout fee is $25.

AM/PM Academy Program

AM/PM Hockey Academy provides a unique opportunity for intense elite hockey training under the tutelage of EEHA and DHA coaching staff. For the inaugural year of AM/PM Hockey Academy, the number of participants will be limited to allow coaches to focus on the individual development needs of each player.

Program Overview


Academy student athletes that choose the AM (morning) or PM (afternoon) plan will attend on and off ice training 5 days per week.

AM (morning) sessions times: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-10:45AM.

PM (afternoon) sessions times: Monday-Friday 1:15PM-3:00PM.

Among the many skill areas that will be explored in the AM/PM Hockey Academy:

Hockey Fundamental Skills Development Training


Puck skills

Introduction to higher level stick handling 

Proper Skating Techniques

Improving Skating Speed and Acceleration

Passing and Shooting Techniques

Using these skills in game situations at a high level

Game IQ

Improve the all-around understanding of the game of hockey by utilizing video analysis sessions, off ice instruction (Chalk Talk), and various other teaching methods


Teaching the importance of preparation for physical activity (proper warm up techniques) for injury prevention and quality of performance

Teaching the importance of preparation for competitive sports, including mental preparation for better focus, nutrition, etc.


Teaching proper recovery techniques for daily practices (stretching)

Teaching the importance of proper recovery techniques for the mind and body of the athlete

With the amount of training the AM/PM Hockey Academy offers, it is vital that players understand the importance of the recovery process which includes eating well (nutrition), getting proper rest (sleep) and stretching for injury prevention



AM (morning) Hockey Academy $499.0 per month per player.

PM (afternoon) Hockey Academy $499.0 per month per player.

Opening Info:

Due to Covid-19 DHA will open with Big Bear Ice Rink and follow all health guidelines that will be in place for all public areas.

Welcome to Denver Hockey Academy where hockey is a lifestyle not just a sport.


DHA plays out of the Big Bear Ice Arena which is a premier ice hockey rink and training facility in the State of Colorado.


DHA offers a variety of youth hockey teams and opportunities that are designed for the beginner to elite player. DHA is a member of USA Hockey, Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA).


DHA programs include a premier recreational development program and competitive travel teams. The Denver Hockey Academy is committed to developing hockey players so they may continue to play the game of hockey at all levels as they progress through their amateur years.


The hockey program shall emphasize fundamental player and team skills, conceptual development, nutritional awareness, physical conditioning and respect for the players and the sport.”
